Porter’s 5 Generic Competitive Strategies:BIM7

Posted by mjmedlock on December 6, 2010 in Strategy |

Michael Porter’S 5 generic strategies are a useful framwork looking at a firm’s strategic options. Use the framework to assess the company you choose for your case study. First off  start by trying to identify which strategy the firm is using. Then using the information you have gathered from the rest of your research decide whether this strategy focus is appropriate for the organization. Of course you need to justify your arguments. If you believe the focus is wrong for the organization, then suggest another focus; again justify your reasoning. I’ve embedded a slideshow into this post, you can view it here and download it if you wish. IF I have time I’ll record a voice over to the slide show and add that to the post.
